Search Engine Optimization
There is no magic to search engine optimization. There is no need to pay exorbitant fees to have someone "optimize" your website for search engines. Everything you need to know about search engine optimization can be summed up in a couple of bullet points.
- Make sure that all pages can be reached by standard links:
Don't use flash menus, don't use JavaScript generated menus don't put your page content in a flash application and don't use re-directs. - Use the words and phrases your customers will use to look for you in the body of your pages:
Don't try to cram stuff into metetags or hide text on the page, use just use the words you customers will use in you pages.
That's it. No magic! Search engines search for words and phrases in the text of your page. They are getting increasingly better at recognizing context and usage and most disregard anything but the text that actually gets shown to the visitors. Most ignore meta tags and keyword tags (hidden tags) because people lie and the search engines are looking for actual matches not false ones.
